So, you have a yellow light on your keypad and the darn thing keeps beeping. Now what?
Follow the instructions below to diagnose the problem. Note: This trouble shooting guide is
applicable to DSC panels only.
First thing to do is go to your keypad and press *2 (star then 2). This will stop the beeping and
then indicate the source of the trouble. As you run back and forth between the computer and
the keypad, the system may time out and you will have to start over.
If your system is equipped with an alphanumeric keypad you will see the trouble described on
the display. You should press the scroll buttons (<>) to see if more than one trouble condition
exists.
If you system is equipped with a numeric keypad, which most are, then you will see one or
more numbers that indicates the source of the problem(s). Some numbers, specifically 1, 5, 6,
and 7, will require that you press that number to further indicate the problem. For instance; if
you press *2 and see a 5 indicated, this means that you have a zone fault. Pressing the 5 now
will indicate which zone is in fault.
After pressing *2, if you see a:
1: Press 1, then if you see a:
1 it means that you have a low system battery, replace the battery
2 it means that you have a problem with your siren, contact us to schedule a service call
3 it means that you have a general system trouble, what does this mean?
4 it means that you have a general system tamper, contact us to schedule a service call
5 it means that you have lost communications with a module on the system, contact us to
schedule a service call
6 it means that you have interference with your wireless contacts, contact us to schedule a
service call
7 it means that you have a low battery on an auxiliary power supply, replace the battery
8 it means that you have AC power failure on an auxiliary power supply, check for proper
power
2: it means that you have lost AC power to your main panel, check for proper power
3: it means that your phone line is not working, let's trouble shoot it
4: it means that your panel attempted unsuccessfully to make a call, what does this mean?
5: it means that you have a zone fault, press 5 again to see which zone. how do I fix this?
6: it means that you have a zone tamper, press 6 again to see which zone, how do I fix this?
7: it means that you have a low battery on a wireless zone, press 7 again to see which zone,
replace the battery
8: it means that your panel has lost the current time, reset the time
